    When I was still writing something every day, posts such as this were a regular feature at the beginning of January. The habit lapsed for a few years but I returned to it last year. Looking back at European/American art from the 1910s/20s is particularly fruitful since there was so much going on, lots of different movements/idioms competing with each other.
